God’s Will

One of the most confusing topics of Christian life can be God’s Will. We often wonder what job we should take, where to live, who to be in a relationship with, and many more big questions.

The good thing to know is that no matter what- if we are following Jesus with our lives -His will is to prosper us and not to harm us, and we see this clearly written in the Bible.

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

Jeremiah 29:11

So how do we truly know the will of God?

Ask Him!

How much time do we spend seeking the advice of others, or Googling answers to big life questions to see what Wikihow says we should do with our lives? Now imagine what would happen if we spent that same time asking God Himself what He already has planned. Amazing things would happen! How crazy is it that we are so impatient with God- reading this blog to see how we can get quick answers for our life -and we aren’t even seeking it?

Walk With God

The beautiful thing about our God is that He is all about a relationship rather than a religion. All He desires is to love you, and to have you love Him back. When we enter into a relationship with God, we surrender our will to His, and His desires become ours.

Think about it like this: If you had a friend that you hadn’t seen in a while, and every time you went out with them, all they were interested in was you buying them dinner. You would try and make conversation, see how they were and try to grow your friendship, but they are only interested in what you can buy for them. Would you keep buying them dinner, or would you be hurt because they didn’t want a relationship with you?

Now this may be a silly example, but that’s what we do to God. We just want answers and for Him to bless us, and we don’t even take time to know Him.

Realize Who God is

When you truly realize who God is, your own plans seem pretty small. The God of the universe, the one who calls the stars by name, and who designed the deepest parts of the oceans and tallest points of the mountains, designed your life too! Before you were even born, He created a plan for every second of your life that is greater than you could ever imagine. After reading that, how silly does it seem to try and plan your own path?

He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.

Psalm 147:4

As always, leave comments, ask questions, and start conversation. The body of Christ is a community.

Haven’t given your life to Jesus? Wondering how to discover your purpose? There’s hope! Head over to the ‘Contact’ page, and let’s talk!

  1. This is amazing! Thanks for following me on Instagram. I can’t wait to read more of your Blogs, definitely worth it. I just thought I’d check them out this morning to see if they’re something good to read every morning before school, and they are.
Keep at it, God’s plan is clearly working through you. I’m so excited to read more!
Question for you – How do you stick to the right path of God when everyone else around you doesn’t? I usually manage too, the only thing I struggle with is forgiveness and to stop swearing, I am trying with the swearing alot more now though, just wondering what are your views on this? Thanks 🙂
